Hedge and specialist fundsArgent has been using Hedge funds and other specialist investment vehicles for several years in its portfolios. Our approach to using these funds is to reduce volatility and to provide the prospect of “absolute” returns. This means being able to show positive growth in some areas of the portfolio during periods of declining equity prices by using instruments such as “options and derivatives” which can benefit from adverse market movements. Some conventional funds are now beginning to incorporate derivative trading into the running of their portfolios under Ucits III legislation. Hedge funds are only suitable for use as part of an integrated investment strategy and should not be considered in isolation, or without professional advice. |
